Yesterday my mom and I hosted our annual Christmas Tea party. We had our closest and oldest friends for a few hours of talking, reminiscing, and lots of eating!
This event reinforces to me how vital personal, in person support is. Most of these women have been with me or my family through surgeries, therapies, successes and struggles. It’s important.
Even though most of them do not have that much experience with Moebius syndrome or chronic illness besides knowing me, the ability to have a face-to-face supportive community is vital to me.
I just thought I needed to acknowledge (and thank!) my IRL community, as I sometimes online focus on the virtual community.
Rather spent from life’s happenings but here is a mostly-photographic chronicle of the last week or so.
First holidays with the dog went wonderfully, he loved all the extra socializing and took everything in stride.
He celebrated his third birthday today with walks, lots of attention, and a Bigfoot stuffed toy from his puppyraisers!
I got a library job, found an apartment to rent, and survived nearly a week with the family!
I am excited for what 2014 will bring.
Well, Cassius just observed. Realized this is only his second “real” Christmas since he was in Advanced Training last year and didn’t experience a true family Christmas. I think he thought this whole putting ornaments on the tree was rather bemusing.
